I was, still am and will be against the dress codes. I never understood them so naturally I saw no point in ACE 2012 Farewell and Welcome party’s dress code of black white and red. Thank god, it was not compulsory. With my outfit set, I was relieved to cross out the “MOST CRUCIAL” thing on my to-do list. I was looking forward to having a good time. The party started at 12.30 but my friends and I only reached the venue at 3. I was shocked to see everyone seated and to make matters worse we had to walk all the way to the front of the hall for a seat. I could feel all the stares seep through my back making me wonder how transparent I had become. I really wanted to kill myself for believing my friend’s theory of “nepali time”. It was a strange feeling having all the teachers around to supervise the event. Everyone seemed normal; nobody seemed to swaying or staggering while walking. Back in my Malpi days, with total freedom from the teachers, the ladies room would be an ugly mess with vomits all over and half-conscious girls would be caught in the men’s lavatory. I was relieved to leave those days that I frowned upon behind. Anyway back to the party details I admit ACE is blessed with very talented singers and musicians. I literally got goose bumps when I heard one of our senior, a female sing. The band performances were not really my cup of tea. Loud guitars, all those hair flipping like you are on a roller-coaster and those singing or screaming, I could not really tell the difference was all too much for me. I finally awoke when there were dance performances of Bollywood mixes by the ladies. It was fun to watch them dance. It was dinner time after these performances. Dinner was really disappointing. I do not remember the menu but I remember vividly that almost half my plate was full of “ALOO!” OH THE HORROR! It’s not that I do not like potatoes, it is just that at the moment I was pretty sick of it. It’s everywhere! After a few bite I gave up on dinner and went on to picture taking. A few shot with my classmates was all I needed. Finally it was time for dancing. I was more than happy to burn off a few calories. People were crazy on the dance floor. I noticed there were mainly four kinds of dancers. The normal ones were people who could dance but only because of heavy TV influence. Then there were these long lines of people whom I thought resembled a “train” and basically did nothing but weave in and out through the crowd. The most famous ones would be the “pendulum “who shifted north and south. Apparently that is the best they could do. The last one was the neck breakers or hair flippers. It was amazing to watch how they could go on and on doing all these neck movements. I was staring at them, half expecting their head to fall off but it did not. Miracle. After 2 hours of dancing, the party came to an end. I must say I had a smashing time and to all those who were not there I sincerely hope you regret it. Hahahahs :P
